There’s now a shirt with a picture of the hat that just says ‘movies’ on it

It's from Australia. What a time to be alive.

Scotty Peers, movie enthusiast from Brisbane, Australia, is launching a Kickstarter for a shirt that has a hat that says "movies" on it, on it. (Screenshot)

The powerful simplicity of the hat that says “movies” on it continues to resonate.
Now comes this tribute project from Scott Peers, a movies enthusiast in Brisbane, Australia, who was unable to buy the hat that says “movies” on it due to his location. It’s a shirt that has a picture of a hat that says “movies” on it.
We recently received this email:

Hi Tyler,
I saw your recent story about Kentucker Audley’s Kickstarter campaign for a hat that says movies on it.
I was disappointed that I could not buy the hat in Australia. However, that project inspired me and I did the next best thing and made a tribute project which I think you will like.
Regards,
Scotty

Peers explained that he created the project not to compete with the hat that says “movies” on it, but rather to get the word out about movies in Australia, where the hat that says “movies” on it is not eligible for shipping. From his Kickstarter:

I am not asking people to support this project instead of the original ‘movies’ on a hat project. That is not my intent as I think these projects complement each other well. I believe this shirt with “a picture of a hat that says ‘movies’ on it” on it will make a good conversation starter. If someone asks you why you are wearing a shirt which has “a picture of a hat with the word ‘movies’ on it” on it you can tell them about movies. That is an important message. If you get time though, please also tell them about a guy in Australia who went to buy a hat with the word ‘movies’ on it and shipping wasn’t available to his country and although no one would have judged him for giving up then and there, he didn’t.

The original hat that says “movies” on it Kickstarter campaign has done quite well, receiving so much in donations ($6,000 and counting) that its creator, a pseudonymous filmmaker named Kentucker Audley, has gone beyond just a hat that says “movies” on it and has created an entire brand of products that say “movies” on them. The brand includes a stylish mug that says “movies” on it, an understated hoodie that says “movies” on it, and an unpleasant-looking yellow hat that says, “virtual reality” on it that Audley asks you not buy as it stems from a bet with a friend.
Audley officially launched the Movies brand last week. The project has been backed by several notable and semi-notable filmmakers, as well as the CEO of Kickstarter.
