Longtime Philly-area entprepreneur Mike Krupit is leaving Novotorium, the Langhorne, Pa. incubator he co-founded almost a year ago, he announced yesterday.
Krupit was not specific about the reasons for his departure but said that the Novotorium team was ready to move forward on its own. The incubator will pivot to focus on supporting “wellness and healthy lifestyle businesses,” according to a Novotorium press release.
Krupit has no firm plans for his next move, he told Technically Philly, but he will definitely stay in the Philly startup world.
“It’s what I love most,” says Krupit, who has been a player in the scene since Philly’s dot-com days at companies like Infonautics and CDNow.
Novotorium will hire a managing director from the health and wellness community, according to the press release, but in the mean time, Gary Baron of Baron Innovation Group will lead the incubator. Baron Innovation Group owns and backs Novotorium.
The companies currently in Novotorium’s incubation program, restaurant ecommerce platform Zuppler and medical information software provider TravelCare, will stay at the incubator. Healthy Food Now, a nutrition startup founded by Baron, will work with Novotorium and be housed in the space, Krupit says. Voice Systems Engineering, Baron’s main business, will also be housed in the space.
Inhabi, a matchmaking service for renters and landlords that joined the incubator in April, left Novotorium after a three-month stint and is in a transitional phase, Krupit says.
