As Technically Baltimore reported in August, the Baltimore City School Board was considering placing cell phone towers on the rooftops of three additional city public schools.
Presently, there are 21 lease agreements for wireless equipment to be placed at 14 city school locations, according to what city spokeswoman Edie House-Foster told the Baltimore Brew.

Now Mary Pat Clarke, city councilwoman representing Baltimore’s 14th District, wants to ban cell phone tower equipment from being placed “on property that is owned or controlled by the City of Baltimore and is used for the recreation, care, or education of children,” reports the Baltimore Brew.
A city schools’ spokeswoman at the City Council meeting Dec. 3, where Clarke introduced the bill, “said school authorities do not consider the devices, which bring in more than half a million dollars of annual revenue, a health concern,” according to the Brew.
A public hearing on the proposed legislation will most likely happen sometime in January.
