Two quick cultural notes for our readers. There’s a couple of maker events happening this weekend we thought you might want to know about.
First, Photoville — the pop-up “photo destination” built from repurposed shipping containers — is coming back to Brooklyn Bridge Park. Opening night party is tonight, Sept. 18. The pop-up will be open until Sept. 28. The hours are here. There’s lots of special events along the way, too, which you can see on the site.
Second, Fiercely Curious is having a party to launch the start of a new venture, Fiercely Made. This second vertical is more focused on artisans than artists. It’s an online shop for locally made, artisanal goods. With the story behind the goods told on the site.
The company is having a launch party on Friday night, in Gowanus.
If the business model sounds familiar, it’s pretty close to what MadeClose is doing. That story-driven ecommerce site has put up a guide to Brooklyn.
