Major League Baseball’s media arm joins NYC Media Lab

The team behind MLB.tv and baseball's other online initiatives joins a stacked roster of NYC Media Lab member companies.

Downtown nonprofit NYC Media Lab has added Major League Baseball Advanced Media LP (MLBAM) to its list of corporate members, which already included AT&T, ESPN, HBO, Hearst, NBCUniversal, News Corp., Publicis Groupe, Time Warner Cable and Verizon.

Founded in 2010 as an initiative of the New York City Economic Development Corporation, the NYC Media Lab connects all the universities of New York City in order to spur innovation, knowledge transfer and talent development.

In an era of talent scarcity, big companies may be looking to organizations like NYC Media Lab to give them an edge in scouting new graduates from top media programs in the city.

MLBAM is based in Chelsea Market and works as the overall internet and interactive media arm for Major League Baseball. Justin Hendrix, Executive Director of NYC Media Lab, said in a press release, “We look forward to helping MLBAM meet its innovation goals by matching them with student and faculty talent across disciplines including engineering, computer science, data science, design, and more.”
