A startup scene is brewing in Lehigh Valley, or that’s the hope, at least.

The region will host its first Startup Weekend (that crazed 54-hour marathon during which teams build companies and products — find our previous coverage of the events here) the first weekend of November at Ben Franklin TechVentures incubator. The event follows Lehigh Valley’s first hackathon, organized by the Lehigh Valley Tech meetup group.

Register here. Tickets are $99, $40 for students.

In an email to Technically Philly, Lehigh Valley Tech co-organizer Anthony Durante says his group is “working very hard to unearth and strengthen the tech economy in the Lehigh Valley.”

Durante says he’s seen a strong showing in Startup Weekend registrations from local schools like Lehigh University, Kutztown University and Northampton Community College. Entrepreneurs from Philly, Baltimore, New York City, Lewisburg (Bucknell University) and New Jersey have also signed up, Durante says.

And there’ll be a decent Philly showing, with Cloudmine as a sponsor, Philly Startup Leaders president and AppRenaissance CEO Bob Moul as a coach and judge and local entrepreneur Yuriy Porytko as a coach.

Companies: AppRenaissance / CloudMine
