Kickstarter’s first Film Festival: submit yours by May 14

Kickstarter is having a film festival. Is the Greenpoint company looking to get into the film distribution business?

We have already written that we think Kickstarter may be looking at film distribution as a serious future revenue stream for the popular platform. This latest news makes us slightly more convinced that this is true.

The Greenpoint company just put out a call for submissions for its first Kickstarter Film Festival.

Filmmakers have till May 14th to submit. The only rules are that it has to have been funded in part by a successful Kickstarter campaign and the work needs to have been completed sometime between January 2013 and now.

The fest will take place in later summer in “New York.” Consider this our vote for holding it in Prospect Park on The Nethermead.

Or how about putting the screen up on top of the northernmost rooftop of an old Bush Terminal building and setting out chairs and speakers on all the rest. That would be cool.
