Kickstarter launches two new categories

Journalism and Crafts.

There are now categories for Journalism and Crafts on Kickstarter. The company announced the new project categories via its newsletter this week.

We just wrote about Kickstarter‘s new rules. It appears that certain categories are automatically excluded from the company’s new Launch Now option, but that’s still unclear. No word on whether these new categories are treated any differently under the new rules.

It appears the company has gone back and recategorized completed projects into the new categories. There currently does not appear to be any live Brooklyn projects in either of the categories.

Here are a couple of tech-oriented projects in each of the new categories:

Drone on the Farm, Journalism.

Custom 3D Printed Objects Made by High School Students, Crafts.

Companies: Kickstarter
