We covered Etsy CEO Chad Dickerson‘s announcement of an expanded definition of “handmade” in October, saying that it was okay for makers to bring in some outside help to get more done. At this point, it’s unclear how Etsy’s policy changes will impact the company’s bottom line. Dickerson says they didn’t do any business modeling prior to making the decision. “It’s something that would be very difficult to model,” he explains. “Frankly, there’s not a lot of data sources on that sort of thing.”
