Let’s call this our “Technically Not Tech” edition after one of our favorite editorial departments here at TP. After a busy September and a packed second half of November, it looks like many tech meetups are taking it easy this week.
That’s okay by us, because it gives us a chance to broaden our horizons and explore events that aren’t regulars here on our event highlights.
This week: meetup with folks that want to use tech to impact our government and then chat with the next big dog at the Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily News and Philly.com. If you’d rather be strictly business, PACT’s CIO Institute is sure to please.

Tuesday, November 2nd – Just in time for Election Day, GovUp is bringing its government innovators meetup to Philadelphia. Hear city CTO Allan Frank and GovLoop’s founder speak for a half hour in between networking sessions. Make sure you vote before you show, otherwise that could be really embarrassing. Center City. 5:30 p.m. RSVP.
Tuesday, November 2nd – You probably journalism junkies like us, but you may have heard a little something about the recent plight of the company formally known as Philadelphia Media Holdings which owns the Inquirer, Daily News and Philly.com. After two auctions the company has new ownership and a new CEO: former Newsweek CEO Greg Osberg. Hear Osberg’s plans for guiding our local media out of financial trouble when he speaks at Temple on Tuesday. North Philly. 6:30 p.m. INFO.
Thursday, November 4th – Company CIO’s often have to make purchasing decisions that can cost their company tens of thousands of dollars. Help  your CIO avoid a five-figure mistake by sending them to PACT’s CIO Institute in the ‘burbs. Employees from SunGard will be on hand to facilitate. Wayne. 8:00 a.m. INFO.

Companies: The Philadelphia Inquirer / Philadelphia Daily News / Philly.com
