If you’re looking to hire or looking to get hired, this week’s event highlights are for you.
There’s a small handful of events dedicated to small businesses and job-seeking IT professionals. There’s even a small business insights meeting, one normally a tad outside our normal coverage, but hosted by a tech business leader.
Wednesday, Discovery Tech owner Todd Royer will lead the lunch to help small business owners find their next great hire. Thursday, the Delaware County Web Technology Meetup Group will help the unemployed, underemployed, and wannabe fun-employed find that next job.
It’s certainly a week to put down the beer at that social meetup and get professional. Winter’s coming fast, folks. It’s time to start storing those nuts, if you catch my drift.
All events listed on the event calendar are free to attend. Be sure to check our complete calendar for more information, or follow us past the jump.

Wednesday, August 12: Owner of Discovery Tech Todd Royer will lead the Small Business Insight Lunch to help small businesses grow with new employees. Believe it or not, Todd has seen more resumes during his career than you’ve been furiously able to mail over the past six months, so he knows a thing or two about hiring. Uh, maybe you can slip another one in his hands if the small business thing ain’t working out. 6:30. Princeton, New Jersey. RSVP. [view more events]
Wednesday, August 12: Delaware County Web Technology Meetup Group will host a workshop for IT folks to seek out new careers. Jennifer Orazi, Assistant Director, Student Employment Services & Co-op at Delco Community College will show you how to whip up a sweet resume and cover letter and just how to find that dream IT job. 7:00 p.m. Delaware County. RSVP. [view more events]
Thursday, August 13: If you needed another excuse to use Twitter, how about one that involves making some dough? In Berks County Thursday, Drew Griffen of Chatterbox Social Media will lead a discussion how to interact with customers and clients through Twitter and other social networks. Cha-ching. 5:30 p.m. Berks County. RSVP. [view more events]
Thursday, August 13: It’s Demo Day for University City incubator DreamIT Ventures, which means from that continental breakfast to mingling after lunch, you get the chance to see ten of the brightest tech startups in all of Philadelphia, not to mention the glitterati of the region’s venture capital community. Last we heard, reservations were scarce, so give an e-mail over to katrina@dreamitventures.com to try, but if not, don’t worry, we’re covering this one for you. 8:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. Independence Visitor Center Ballroom, Old City RSVP.
