These are boom times on the blockchain frontier.
A new piece in the New York Times discusses the rise of the Ethereum blockchain and the skyrocketing of its currency token, Ether.
“Bitcoin is on the verge of losing its position as the dominant virtual currency,” Nathaniel Popper of the Times writes in an article titled “Move Over, Bitcoin. Ether Is the Digital Currency of the Moment.”
Popper strikes a skeptical note on Ethereum, which was created in part by Brooklyn’s Joseph Lubin, who now runs a Bushwick-based dev shop for applications that run on the Ethereum blockchain.
“The fact that there are fewer real-world uses for Ethereum has many market experts expecting a crash similar to the ones that have followed previous run-ups in the price of Bitcoin and other virtual currencies,” the article reads.
