You may know Ben Walsh as the organizer of the popular Innovate Baltimore tech event, but his entrepreneurial efforts have recently been the subject of some great, very encouraging news articles!
After quitting his job as a video game producer this year, he recently launched Pure Bang Games in Highlandtown. Gus Sentementes wrote about the launch as did BmoreMedia.
“There isn’t a big gaming company based here in the city,” said Walsh, picture above with a laptop at his office. “We hope to change that.”
The first game Pure Bang created, called My Pet Rock, is currently in testing among 500 users on Facebook, and is expected to launch in January. Players accumulate and care for pet rocks, which they adorn and customize, and can even do battle with others’ pet rocks.
“It definitely fits our style and humor,” Walsh said of the game concept. “People will adopt pet rocks and personalize them how they want them to look.”
Ben is also spearheading an effort to redevelop four buildings in Highlandtown into an arts-and-tech hub to house Pure Bang and other ventures. BmoreMedia has more details.
Together they harbor a vision of redeveloping the landmark former Boys and Girls Club building into a mixed-use facility featuring artists’ space, office space, and a gallery and restaurant on the first floor.
