DreamIt Ventures‘ fall Philly class is winding down with Demo Day just around the corner. Before the startups leave the accelerator and their office space inside the University City Science Center‘s 3701 Market Street building, we wanted to take a look at where this year’s startup magic happened.
Check out the photos below for a look inside this cycle’s space.
DreamIt companies are always housed in the University City Science Center, an early investor in the accelerator and a 50-year-old institution that has gotten more involved in the early stage space in recent years, but the space changes each cycle depending on availability, said Science Center spokeswoman Jeanne Mell.
This year, the startups were housed in a space on the fourth floor of the University City Science Center that was a mix of offices and cubicles. The office has “breakout spaces,” which startups have told DreamIt Ventures management that they want, said the accelerator’s director of program management Dana Rygwelski. Going forward, Rygwelski said the accelerator is ideally looking for a space that can promote greater collaboration.
For those of us who visited the accelerator in 2009, DreamIt Ventures was actually the first organization to occupy what is now the Science Center’s Quorum space, Mell said.
“It was a great fit,” she wrote in an email. “The energy and enthusiasm of the DreamIt companies exemplified the intent and spirit of Quorum.”
Now, DreamIt Ventures uses Quorum for its Speaker Series.
