Chariot Solutions launches Scholars Program to mentor women and minority engineers

Women and minority engineers have been almost as hard to find as the next big idea.

Chariot Solutions, the Fort Washington-based mobile development consulting firm is launching a new Chariot Scholars Program that hopes to start changing that, three engineers at a time.

“Our goal is to improve diversity among our peers, which is the reason behind the Chariot Scholar Program,” said Chariot Solutions Education Director Ken Rimple in a press release.

Chariot plans to provide three young entrepreneurs with the opportunity to be mentored by a Chariot employee, receive skill evaluations and participate in a tailored two-week training program to conclude scholarship.

Scholars will also have access to continuing education through the classes offered by Chariot’s education services team. The classes offer training in a variety of emerging technologies, according to a release.

Here are the criteria to apply, according to the release:

1. Member of a minority group or a woman
2. Aptitude in information technology
3. Be 18 years of age or older.
4. Live in the Delaware Valley

The deadline to apply is May 15, 2012 and the anticipated start date for the scholars is scheduled in mid-June according to the site.
