Learn about SQL with Brooklyn’s database masters

CartoDB is offering a free SQL workshop tonight at their U.S. headquarters, on Moore Street in Bushwick.
“We will be doing SQL in PostgreSQL, the most beautiful open source implementation of the SQL standard,” the invite says. “One of our favorite parts of Postgres is the inclusion of PostGIS, which allows one to do spatial analysis (!) within SQL.”
When CartoDB opened its office in October, chief science office Andrew Hill explained that the mapping company chose the space in part so they could have more community-oriented events.
“We love the different communities we’re a part of, so we really wanted a space we could share with them, whether it’s meetups or hackathons,” he said. “We thought Bushwick was really interesting because we could attract that tech community here.”
The workshop is listed as an intermediate level, but if you’re just beginning with SQL, CartoDB has a nifty (and free) course on it, as well as other topics.
