It’s been quite a few weeks of sexism in the tech sector. The Times published an explosive story last Friday, “Women in Tech Speak Frankly on Culture of Harassment,” which came just a week after Uber’s CEO and founder Travis Kalanick stepped down due to complaints of sexism and harassment at the company.
So it would seem like a fine time to discuss something that’s not really talked about too much in the fast-paced, exciting startup world: HR.
On Brooklyn Bridge Partners founder Charlie O’Donnell’s Startup Recruiting Podcast he sits down with Beth Steinberg, the founder and Chief People Person at San Francisco’s Mensch Ventures.
Interviewed @bsteinbe re: need for responsible HR from day one, and the role investors can have in affecting change. https://t.co/RjblXm4BrC

“Many companies are started by people doing this for the first time,” Steinberg explained in the episode. “I think we expect them to know how to do their jobs and know how to be leaders when, how would they know if they’ve never experienced it? This is where the board, advisors, mentors can really come in to focus to help a company think through some of this stuff.”
