Need to boost your sales and marketing game? Then head over to Prospect-Lefferts Gardens next week for Brooklyn Marketing Week, run by cofounded by Tasha Morris and Tiffany Ashitey of Benchmark Creative Group and held at newish coworking space BKLYN Commons. The event includes a workshop each day geared toward small-business owners who want to increase both revenue and brand recognition.
An all-access pass to the week’s events, which kick off Monday, Oct. 17, costs $65. The event is currently running a promotion for 25 percent off that price. Tickets to individual workshops and panels are $15 each. Thursday evening’s mixer is free.
On the tech side of things, the weeklong event will include workshops on storytelling across different media, including video and podcasts, and on building up a presence on social media. There will also be sessions on closing sales, do-it-yourself marketing and public relations. Thursday evening features a networking cocktail mixer with Johanne Brierre, BKLYN Commons’ community director and the cofounder of events company Trendy Tripping, speaking on how to build a community around your company’s brand.
The speakers for Brooklyn Marketing Week are predominantly local. In addition to Brierre, they include BKLYN Commons founder Jack Srour; Paul Evseroff, the director of business development at WNBC and Sophia Betz and Matt Landfield, the cofounders of marketing agency Time Travlr Creative, which has produced videos for Google, Amazon and Toyota.
With Brooklyn’s coworking boom in full effect, we’ve seen efforts by newer entrants to become ensconced in the local tech and entrepreneurial scenes, which gets more people through the doors and makes their space a destination. (Not to mention it often means additional revenue, though it’s not clear if the space is being rented or donated for Brooklyn Marketing Week.) CoLab-Factory hosted the Make It in Brooklyn Pitch Contest just recently last month. Even WeWork has upped the ante, offering a free membership program for select startups at its Brooklyn Heights location (and around the country).
Upon its launch, BKLYN Commons emphasized engaging the local community, which is perhaps why its upcoming event focuses on nuts-and-bolts practices for those just starting out.
