Bre Pettis rebrands new venture, gets covered in WIRED

One of the most interesting innovators in Brooklyn is giving desktop manufacturing another whirl.

WIRED is reporting this morning that Bre Pettis is rebranding his company, Other Machine Co. to Bantam Tools, and will focus on professionals more than hobbyists.

Bantam Tools’ premier product is the PCB Milling Machine, a small desktop tool that allows users to make cuts to metal with precision, and which are primarily used for making printed circuit boards. Typically, engineers have to send away their circuit board designs to have them manufactured and shipped back. With the Milling Machine, they can cut weeks out of that process.

“The biggest change, by far, is that Bantam Tools is no longer betting its success on the basement makers it first set out to entice,” writes WIRED reporter Elizabeth Stinson.
