A handful of Baltimore-area startups will try to walk away with $100,000 in funding by the time Distilled Intelligence 2.0 concludes this Friday in Washington, D.C.
The event, which boasts “angel investors, venture capitalists, strategic investors, entrepreneurs, business and community leaders, government officials, members of the media, students, professors” and startups as its attendees, is a two-day pitch competition where companies from across the world will try to sell their startup companies to a panel of judges in the space of 60 seconds. Assuming a startup makes it through this “speed round,” companies are then afforded an additional two minutes to state their case.

- Easy Web Content, for people who need professional websites but don’t have requisite coding skills
- GroupMD, a secure social network for medical professionals to share opinions and advice regarding patient care
- NewsUp, a game for reading and sharing news

- Sickweather, tracking sickness trends across the country using social media data
Distilled Intelligence 2.0 is sponsoring an accelerator day today for teams traveling to the event from more than 200 miles away. One of the teams that participates in the accelerator will win the final spot to pitch during the two-day event.
