Philly’s getting its own Arts Tech Meetup.
Originally founded in New York as the Arts, Culture and Technology Meetup, the meetup aims to bring the arts and technology sectors together. The movement has also cropped up in San Francisco and now, Philly.
The first meetup, an introductory event to share ideas for future meetups, was held this past weekend. To find out about upcoming events, join the Meetup group here.
The effort is led by Uri Pierre-Noel, the 20-year-old executive director of the James Oliver Gallery in Washington Square West.
He says he hopes the meetup can act as an “incubator for great ideas to present themselves.” The events will range from panel discussions to demo days for members to present projects, he says.
The next meetup in late August will be a panel discussion on how arts institutions are using technology here in Philly and abroad, Pierre-Noel says.
Pierre-Noel lives in West Philly and co-founded the Northeast Foundation for the Fine Arts. He currently studies biochemistry and business management at Temple University.
