For older Moore students, it must seem like the young ones have all the luck.

Earlier this year, we told you that the Moore College of Art and Design had partnered with Apple to provide all of its first year students with iPad 2 devices.

As part of an effort to adapt the first year Foundation curriculum to take advantage of the tablet technology, Moore has pre-populated the students’ devices with the 11 apps chosen by Moore faculty, according to a press release. Though some will be familiar — iPhoto, iMovie — others caught our attention, if only to think of the possibilities of students carrying their course work — iBooks, UPad and Pages — and creating new workflows — Asketch, Dropbox.

Here are the 11 must-have apps for this year’s class of incoming Moore students, according to the Moore website (with actual prices included):

  1. iPhoto: Organize, edit and share photos. $4.99
  2. iMovie: Organize, edit and share videos. $4.99
  3. Sketchbookpro: Advanced drawing and painting sketch book. $4.99
  4. Asketch: Simulates the experience of charcoal drawing. $1.99
  5. Autocad: View, edit and share DWGâ„¢ files with anyone, anywhere. FREE
  6. iBooks: Download and store books. FREE
  7. Dropbox: Mobilizes photos, documents and videos, and allows to save on multiple devices. FREE
  8. Pages: Customizable word processing. $9.99
