Affordable Care Act

The Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, was a healthcare reform law passed in 2010. It required most U.S. residents to have health insurance and created the American Health Benefit Exchanges through which individuals can purchase coverage. It included measures to improve the efficiency of the healthcare system and end industry practices that denied healthcare coverage to those with pre-existing conditions.
