Eleven years ago, Philadelphia became the first city to broadcast a tourism commercial focused on celebrating gay rights and culture.
The slogan: “Get your history straight and your nightlife gay.”
It was the work of Visit Philly, which was called the Greater Philadelphia Tourism and Marketing Corporation at the time. In honor of Friday’s Supreme Court ruling on marriage equality, watch the ad below, and check out all the events happening next weekend in Philly in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the gay rights movement here.
