Who’s getting funded?

The Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund has received a record 240 letters of intent from prospective participants, MDBIZ News reports. That’s up from 195 applications last year, with more than a month to go until the deadline for the eight-year-old program.
 

Who’s making moves?

Two more hires at OrderUp in Canton, officials there announced Monday. Heather Fields is joining the company from GiveCorps as vice president of marketing. She earlier spent a decade at Bill Me Later and PayPal, managing marketing through the former’s acquisition by the latter. Michael Hannon, the new vice president of finance, joins OrderUp from SafeNet. His resume includes stops at MICROS Systems and Black & Decker.
Two college students — one from Towson University, the other from the University of Baltimore, are working on a walled-off answer to Craigslist for college students, The Towerlight reports. Echo Trades would allow students to buy and sell used goods by signing in with a student email address.
Uber is offering a settlement with state regulators, wherein a subsidiary of the ridesharing app maker will provide a list of UberBlack and SUV service drivers to officials, The Baltimore Sun reports. In exchange, regulators would create a “broker” class in which to fit services like Uber.
Haystack, the app that let users buy and sell street parking spaces, is off the App Store and Google Play and its Facebook and Twitter pages are down, as Technical.ly Baltimore reported. The company’s challenges included regulatory hurdles, including a ban in Boston.
