Wilmington’s The Kitchen, a video production shop founded in 2014 by Zach Phillips, sent an email on Monday to announce a big change: the firm is rebranding and will henceforth be known as Short Order Production House.
“We’ve grown to 11 full-time employees and we’re rebranding our production company as bigger, better, and more colorful,” wrote Phillips. “From here on out, when you need something produced, you can find us at Short Order Production House. That’s our new brand and website. Hope you like it.”
The company has done work for some banner corporate clients like Comcast, DuPont and Amtrak. It was also behind more than a few political TV spots like this one for Gov. Jack Markell or Larry Lessig’s presidential campaign spot. For a more recent sample of The Kitchen’s Short Order’s work, peep this spot produced for the Delaware Department of Education aimed at attracting teachers to the First State.
Phillips also gave a quick shoutout to the Delaware commmunity and the opportunities it has yielded since starting out in a “tiny little office on Market Street.”
“Delaware turns out to be a hell of a place to start a production company,” Phillips said in the email. “When I look at the humble goals I started with, I’m stunned by just how low I was shooting. I started the Kitchen on one simple premise: That if you try and do your best work, no matter how small the client or the job or the place where you’re doing it, somehow, you’ll get to keep doing it, and keep getting better at it. So far, this has proven true, thanks to y’all.”
