We’ve been tracking UD grad (and runner) Amira Idris and her health startup Vibrating Therapeutic Apparel for a while now, but VTA is no more. Say hello to TheraV.
The new brand (and website) comes as Idris and her team are finalizing the design of their ELIX device. ELIX is a wearable device that uses vibration therapy — not drugs — to relieve pain signals experienced by amputees. According to a company statement, it’s expected to be released commercially later this year.
“TheraV strives to enable amputees to get back to doing what they love,” Idris said. “That is what we are all working towards here, and it is something amazing to be a part of.”
The company is heading to Louisville, Kentucky, next week for the Amputee Coalition National Conference.
TheraV was a member of the spring 2017 cohort of hardware startups in NextFab’s accelerator program. We last saw the team demoing at Marvin Weinberger’s Philadelphia Makers Meetup in June.
