First Round Capital was all over the news this week. The firm participated in a $2 million round for San Francisco-based marketing platform SocialWire, VentureBeat reported, as well as a $9 million series A round for New York City-based content curation startup Percolate, BetaBeat reported.
BetaBeat named First Round Capital partner Phineas Barnes one of 2012’s “Tech Insurgents.” Barnes was one of the first employees at sports clothing brand And1, which was originally based in Paoli, Pa.
First Round managing partner Josh Kopelman was quoted in a Bloomberg BusinessWeek story about a possible ecommerce bubble.
First Round Capital was also featured in the Daily Pennsylvanian, which highlighted the firm’s Dorm Room Fund and its new event-oriented University City space.

Glen Mills, Pa.-based Versify, a software and services company for the power industry, raised $406,256, according to an SEC filing.
Hackensack, N.J.’s LiveU, which CityBizList calls “a leader in portable video-over-cellular solutions,” just closed a $27 million round of funding, CityBizList reported. The round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners.
