As of today, two Delaware cities can use Spotluck, the D.C.-based dining app that connects users to “smart savings” at over 1,300 restaurants in the mid-Atlantic region.
Cofounded by University of Delaware alum Brad Sayler with Cherian Thomas in 2014, Spotluck brings the dynamic pricing of airfare and hotel rooms to restaurants, by offering daily discounts and incentives to try different local eateries.
The “luck” in Spotluck refers to a daily game of chance in the app. Users spin a virtual wheel, and when it stops on a restaurant, it unlock discounts up to 35 percent. If you’re not interested in that spot, you still receive a 10 percent discount at all partner restaurants every day.
So far, participating restaurants in Newark include Klondike Kate’s, Catherine Rooney’s, Home Grown
Café, Caffe Gelato, Margherita’s Pizza, La Casa Pasta and Arena’s Deli & Bar.
Spotluck debuted in Delaware last month with a Wilmington launch, partnering with Dead Presidents, Mrs. Robino’s, Scratch Magoo’s, Chelsea Tavern and Tonic, among others.
Spotluck just celebrated one month in Delaware and we’re thrilled with the positive reception, both from our restaurants and users,” said Sayler. “Today, we’re expanding to Newark and it’s really cool to see many of my old favorite UD spots joining our network.”
The free Spotluck app is available for Android and iOS.
