Since launching its #FeedTheFrontlines campaign, TwentyTables has raised $35,000 and served 3,000 free meals to 10 local hospitals, the company said.
Normally, TwentyTables manages an app that allows users to connect with $6 lunch and $12 dinner options from local restaurants. It launched this new campaign to deliver free meals daily to hospital workers and first responders who are working through the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are so grateful for the dedication and sacrifice of the nurses and doctors — and all frontline workers — at hospitals and healthcare facilities across Washington D.C. This. Is. Community. Bonded through common cause,” TwentyTables founder and CEO Alex Cohen told Technical.ly in an email. “Service through support, support through service. We will persevere. We will grow stronger, together. And, together, we will build the future we want to see and truly make a difference.”
The organization launched this campaign not only to help feed frontline workers, but to also support local small businesses. For meals, TwentyTables is partnering with local restaurants including, Peruvian Brothers, DC Slices, Jerk@Nite, Caliburger, SoulTarian, Pakos Takos, KBBQ Box, Koba, Waffle World, Tazah and Fresh Fried Chicken.
This week, TwentyTables is donating meals to Children’s National Hospital, George Washington University Hospital, Howard University Hospital, Sibley Memorial Hospital and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. Following its mission, the organization is donating one meal to local food charities for every meal served through the campaign. Some of those charity partners include Capital Area Food Bank, DC Central Kitchen and Martha’s Table.
