D.C.-based public transit software startup TransitScreen has relocated its headquarters to a 6,000-square-foot space at 750 17th St. NW. The company’s new office is a short walk from the Farragut North and Farragut West metro stations.

This HQ move happens a year before TransitScreen’s previous 3,000-square-foot office lease at 1725 Desales St. NW was set to expire. The growing tech startup with 33 employees houses all but two members of its workforce in the new space, Director of Marketing Rachel Karitis told Techical.ly. TransitScreen officially moved into the new office on Sept. 30.

Founded in 2014, the company began by making displays showing transit data that hang in corporate buildings and apartment complexes. TransitScreen has expanded its products to include CityMotion, its first mobile app. The company was featured at the #4 spot in our first Technical.ly DC realLIST in 2017.

Its MobilityScore is a system in beta that TransitScreen also offers to let commuters know how accessible a location is based on various mobility options. The system currently has transit data for the top 100 largest metropolitan areas in North America.

“Our new building has a MobilityScore rating of 100 — that means the best possible access to all types of public and shared transportation,” Caywood shared in a statement. “This was essential to our decision given our employees’ preference to have commuting choices like walking, biking, and riding public transit.”

This office expansion follows TransitScreen’s $3 million investment from Vancouver-based TIMIA Capital back in May, when the startup shared that it had plans to expand its office space in the District and increase its team with some hiring.
