Halfpenny Technologies, a Blue Bell-based provider of medical data technology has raised $2.25 million from a group of mostly local venture capital firms. Participating in the round were Emerald Stage2 Ventures, Osage Venture Partners, and LORE Associates among others.
Safeguard Scientifics led a $2.5 million round for Lumesis, a Connecticut-based financial technology company.
MIGHT BE WORTH YOUR TIME
First Round Capital has joined several angels and Shasta Ventures in a $6 million round for Poppin, an office supply maker. The investment is a bit of a departure for First Round which typically steers away from physical product-based businesses.
Center City-based DocDep has released SmartCap, a free online capitalization table tool for venture capitalists. We covered Capography, another local capitalization table tool, earlier this week.

Lenard Marcus, principal of Edison Ventures is scheduled to speak at the Southeast Venture Conference. Speaking of Edison, the firm received $2 million from the state of New Jersey according to MedCity News.
