jiraffeThreads, founded by James Fencil of Newark, was created to combine style, philanthropy and organic social experiences.
It started with a line of snapback hats, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Giraffe Conservation Foundation.
“This is a way for me to support initiatives out there that already have amazing organizations,” Fencil said in an interview with Technical.ly in February. “Where things get really exciting is when technology is introduced.”
The jiraffeThreads app for iOS was slated for a March release. It wound up being pushed back to June 24.

What does the “organic social media” app do? Users interact with other users and brands, complete challenges, post new challenges and upload photos to earn tokens that can be used to earn free products from participating companies. The first six months of business use is free.
“So far we have collaborated with former Harlem Globe Trotter Jonte Hall and Micah Kiser of the LA Rams,” said Fencil.
Want to check it out? The app is available for iOS for free at The App Store.
