As we’re focusing on cybersecurity growing in the Washington, D.C.—area this month, today brings news of a West Coast cybersecurity company that recently expanded an East Coast office.

Milpitas, Calif.-based FireEye, a publicly-traded cybersecurity company, has expanded in Northern Virginia with a new office located at 11955 Freedom Drive in Reston, Va. The company said it has been growing its presence in Reston and Alexandria, Va., since 2011.

FireEye offers a single platform for organizations to use who are struggling to prepare for, prevent, and respond to cyber attacks. The company was founded in 2004 by Ashar Aziz, who led the company as CEO and CTO until 2012. Since its inception, FireEye has filed more than 150 patents for tech in the area of cyber threat protection.

FireEye’s Reston location will house the company’s largest security operations center, with more than 300 employees to start and room for more expansion, the company said in a news release. The company also reported having its eyes set on another office location in Alexandria, Va. The Reston location will primarily house the company’s tech and engineering employees, while the Alexandria office will be home to FireEye’s Mandiant consultants, the company’s cybersecurity consultancy employees. FireEye acquired Mandiant in 2013, which is headquartered in Alexandria.

“We continue to hire the best of the best as we work to achieve this mission every day, and our growing team of tech security experts located in the Dulles Tech Corridor is an important part of everything that we do,” Kevin Mandia, CEO at FireEye said in a statement.

FireEye analysts will monitor cyber threats 24/7 and use these insights to improve the company’s products and services. The company reports having over 7,700 customers across 103 countries.

“I am pleased to see another thriving cyber security company has made the decision to expand operations in Fairfax County,” U.S. Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Virginia, said in a statement. “Companies like FireEye are essential to the diversification of our economy and show that Northern Virginia continues to establish itself as the Silicon Valley of the East.”
