Fresh vids from digital sketch comedy group The Worst Generation start dropping tonight and, to celebrate, the crew of nine is hosting a launch party at the Philly Improv Theater.

The group of writers, performers and animators has been working together for a year producing a seriously dark brand of comedy.

Here’s their most recent piece:

“I could not be more excited for everyone to see the dumb fun we’ve come up with in the writer’s room,” said the group’s director, Jon Plester. “We’re going to screen some of our hits, some new stuff, have some fun with the audience, and put on a real strange variety show for everyone.”

Plester said setting up a live show when the troupe focuses on a digital medium made for an interesting creative process.

“We’ve had to work to push our brains in the direction of video and now we’re pushing our brains back to conceptualizing ideas for the stage,” the Temple grad said. “But, in the end, our digital stuff is going to compliment the live stuff and vice versa.”

The show starts at 10:30 p.m., at the Philly Improv Theater at 2030 Sansom St.
