These days, Brian Selander, president and COO of Philly-based ecommerce company Ownable has one of those “fun” offices, equipped with skee ball and a massage chair.
A few years ago, though, as the exec’s two young daughters were hyped about “Take Your Kids to Work Day,” the situation was different.
“At the time, I was the Entrepreneur in Residence at SeventySix Capital, and everyone else there was on their way to the NFL draft,” Selander, the onetime Chief Strategy Officer for Governor Jack Markell, told Technical.ly. “So the day would have consisted of my daughters watching me evaluate business pitches on the laptop and at the office. Or, more likely, at our house. ‘Take your daughter to House Day’ doesn’t really have the same ring.”
So, at the suggestion of founding partners Mac Nagaswami and Greg Star, Selander took them to Carvertise instead.

Selander, an advisor and shareholder at Carvertise, isn’t worried about topping that year.
“I don’t think I’ll ever top Greg and Mac’s kindness of a few years ago, when the kids were young enough to find all of that really amazing,” Selander said. “Upside: Carvertise’s clients find them amazing too.”
