Tech Night this Thursday at Port Discovery [Events]

There will be food and refreshments, a startup arena where local startups will be presenting their products and the presentation of the Civic Innovator Award -- $1,000 to a city-based civic hacker.

Update 11/4/13 9:14 a.m.: As of this morning, the Startup Grind scheduled for Tuesday evening has been canceled.

On Thursday, take in Expedient‘s new Owings Mills-based data center at its grand opening — that makes two data centers for Expedient in the Baltimore region. (Its other is in Tide Point.) On Thursday night, it’s gb.tc‘s annual Tech Night, where one civic innovator will go home with a $1,000 award. And for K-12 teachers, this Saturday is EdCamp Baltimore, a professional development day with a focus on digital tools.
 
Startup Grind: Hamish McKenzie, Baltimore-based reporter for national tech news site PandoDaily, will be taking questions from startup owners at this month’s event. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 6 p.m. Loyola University Maryland, Knott Hall B03, 4501 N. Charles St., Loyola/Notre Dame, Baltimore city. RSVP. $25.
Expedient data center opening: Expedient data center, based in several locations across the U.S. including Baltimore, is hosting a public grand opening of its newest, Owings Mills-based data center. Thursday, Nov. 7, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Expedient, 11155 Red Run Blvd., Baltimore County. RSVP. FREE.
Tech Night: The annual gb.tc Tech Night takes place at Port Discovery this year. EdCamp Baltimore: A day-long professional development event held at Johns Hopkins for K-12 teachers with a focus on bringing digital tools into the classroom. Saturday, Nov. 9, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Johns Hopkins University, Levering Hall glass pavilion, 3400 N.
