There are lots of different ways to handle odd jobs around the house. You can meet the tasks head-on, enlist friends and family or just procrastinate.
But this being 2017, there’s also now an app-based option.
Takl, which was founded in Nashville last year, is expanding into the Baltimore area. It also expanded into D.C. The app allows users to book folks to come to their house and get the housework done.
“Takl is now coast to coast with our on-demand platform that provides immediate help for customers with small chores and jobs with our easy-to-use app,” CEO Willis Johnson said in a statement.
While we’ve seen startups geared toward home improvement from Baltimore entrepreneurs, this service is designed to take care of those chore-like tasks. Things like lawn care, small repairs or house cleaning are among the features that the company lists. Writing a resume is also an option. It’s all work that doesn’t require a license.
Users enter what they want done and their desired pricing. There’s also an option to customize a chore. When providers become available, users get notified via text and can choose between them.
A spokesperson said the service has a network of about 3,000 providers between Baltimore and D.C. The startup is looking to expand into more cities this year.
