Now the Pitch Across Maryland competition begins.

The Startup Maryland bus rolled around the state for three weeks last month.
Mike Binko and company cruised through Baltimore with Steve Case’s Rise of the Rest tour, and made it over the Bay Bridge to Eastern Shore coworking space hotDesks.
One day featured a stop at Spark in Baltimore’s Power Plant Live! and the University of Baltimore. The bus was in Montgomery County, before heading back up to Charm City for Baltimore Innovation Week’s Beta City.
It was an epic voyage. And as it crisscrossed the state, the Pitch Across Maryland tour compiled videos of 138 startup founders pitching inside the bus.
Now, they’re all on YouTube.

With the pitches all out on the web for the public to see, the competition is now on.
There are two contests underway:

  • One is based on old-fashioned democracy, except voting happens with your eyes. The three pitches with the most views by noon on Wednesday, Nov. 6, get the nod as Fan Favorites.
  • Separately, Startup Maryland and TEDCO convened a panel of investors and entrepreneurs who will pick eight finalists. These “Great 8 finalists” will have a chance to pitch more extensively at TEDCO’s Entrepreneur Expo on Nov. 17. From that field, a panel will name a winner and runner-up. TEDCO will pick two of the finalists for a pitch spot for its Technology Commercialization Fund or Cybersecurity Investment Fund, each of which doles out $100,000 investments.
