Comcast’s Chief Technology Officer Sree Kotay has resigned following a 10-year-stint at the comms giant.

Trade publication Multichannel News had the news first, and a Comcast spokesperson confirmed the news to Technical.ly, saying that Kotay left for “personal reasons.” The spokesperson declined to comment on whether a successor had yet been named. Comcast did not immediately respond to a request for confirmation on the timeline of Kotay’s resignation — Multichannel reports that Kotay left sometime last week.

On Monday afternoon, a note requesting comment sent to Kotay’s Comcast email address came back with an automatic response saying the exec was on “administrative leave” and email would be forwarded to another exec in the organization. We tried reaching out to him through other channels and will update if and when we hear back.

Kotay, who is Philly-based, joined Comcast in 2007 as Senior Vice President of Technology after working for companies like AOL. In 2016 he was promoted to the roles of Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at the company. He ran the development of Comcast’s X1 platform, the company’s first major foray into consumer technology.

We last checked in with Kotay in February as he marched down Market Street alongside hundreds of Comcast employees as part of the #TechHasNoWalls protest against President Trump’s travel ban. As far as we can tell, Kotay’s involvement was singular: Comcast’s other highest-ranking execs have remained silent on the issue. At the time, the Indian immigrant said he was attending the march in “support of his fellow Comcast coworkers.”

We’ll remember Kotay not only for his stylish garb but for this lavish praise of the Philly tech scene and Comcast as a destination for worthy technologists everywhere.

Thought it’s not immediately clear if Kotay will be leaving Philly, we’d like to offer him a spot on our Exit Interview series whenever he wants.
