Two months after opening a second location in D.C., coworking company Spaces is opening its third Virginia location on June 24 in Alexandria.
The new office, Spaces Duke Street, will feature over 30,000 square feet of coworking space on the third floor of the building, and is equipped with a wellness room, fitness center and outdoor workspace. Michael Berretta, VP of network development at IWG, which owns Spaces, told Technical.ly that the new space can accommodate 410 members.
Beretta said that an IWG study revealed that “80% of workers in the U.S. would choose a job which offered flexible working over a job that didn’t.”
To accommodate the expansion, Spaces plans to hire additional staff to manage the office. Each location features its own dedicated team to support members.
“We are continuing our expansion to serve the needs and communities of growing businesses within urban areas as well as secondary and tertiary markets,” Beretta said.
Spaces Duke Street will have also have 24 dedicated desks, 69 private offices, and two fully-equipped meeting rooms. There will be an onsite barista who will provide members with a chance to network and refresh. When outside, members can borrow bicycles for personal use, free of charge.
Spaces members will also have access to Regus spaces, which has nine locations in D.C., since IWG is also its parent company and is extending its network. As far as D.C., Spaces also has locations in Thomas Circle and NoMa and for Maryland, the company just recently opened up a second Baltimore location, Spaces Harborplace Gallery.
Berretta said Spaces also has plans to add a fourth Virginia location in McLean by year-end.
