Since it launched its iPad game Battle of the Bulge in December, mobile war game developer Shenandoah Studios has been busy.

It recently raised $150,000 from Benjamin Franklin Technology Partners, successfully crowdfunded its next game centered around the Battle of Gettysburg and plans to launch a Battle of the Bulge sequel in the next few months. It’s also more than doubled its staff: the studio’s Center City office now houses 15, up from seven in December, said spokesman Brad Cummings.

This summer, Shenandoah surpassed its $20,000 crowdfunding goal for Gettysburg: The Tide Turns by nearly $10,000. It used the money to hire new people, Cummings said, and turned to crowdfunding to gauge interest in the game. Slated to launch in early 2014, the game is a nod to the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg.

Will Shenandoah leave its offices at 1650 Arch Street to join its fellow developers at new game developer coworking space Philly Game Forge? It’s not likely, Cummings said, as the team has grown too big for a shared space.
