With the massive rise in popularity that esports has enjoyed in recent years, and last month’s legalization of sports betting by the U.S. Supreme Court, the intersection of tech and sports is a space that’s ripe for growth.
Conshohocken VC firm SeventySix Capital, which last year raised $10 million for a fund aimed at the sports-tech arena, certainly feels that way. On June 26, together with the Global Sport Institute at Arizona State University, Wayne Kimmel’s firm is bringing a dozen industry insiders to Philly’s Prince Theater for a discussion on “the future of sports tech and sports betting.”
Speakers for the event include former Phillies slugger and SeventySix Capital partner Ryan Howard, N3rd Street Gamers cofounder Rob Hilsky and SiriusXM NFL host Adam Caplan.

“Attendees will get an inside look into some of the leading startups and established businesses in these growing industries,” Kimmel said in an email. “We encourage entrepreneurs and executives alike to join us on June 26 as my SeventySix Capital partners, Ryan Howard and Jon Powell, and I are looking to invest in game-changing entrepreneurs in the sports and retail industries.”
