This week, join Ruby on Rails developers at Rye for cocktails, get your bookmarks ready for the inaugural meeting of the UX Book Club and bring your ties to Waterfront Hotel to celebrate in style with the KnotFriends crew. Also note: GBTC’s Groundwork event, originally set to happen this Friday, is being rescheduled.

Bmore on Rails night at Rye: Baltimore’s Ruby on Rails Meetup group is headed to Rye in Fells Point on Tuesday night. Join fellow Ruby developers for drinks. Among those on the RSVP list is Jonathan Julian, half the team behind the Frame app developed at the Walters Art Museum’s Art Bytes hackathon. Tuesday, Aug. 7, 7 p.m. Rye, 807 South Broadway, Fells Point, Baltimore City 21231. RSVP. FREE TO ATTEND.
First meeting of the Baltimore UX book club: For those who love literature and user experience design, head to the offices of the Berndt Group in Hampden on Wednesday for a discussion of Indi Young’s Mental Models. (Get the e-book here, and use the code UXBOOKBALTIMORE to receive a 30% discount on all purchases from the rosenfeldmedia.com site until August 10.) Club participants will also decide the next book they’ll be reading in preparation for the next meeting. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 7 p.m. The Berndt Group, 3618 Falls Rd., Hampden, Baltimore City, 21211. RSVP. FREE.
KnotFriends Tie Party: Head to the upstairs bar inside the Waterfront Hotel in Fells Point to help the KnotFriends co-founders celebrate the launch of their new website. Food will be served (black bean and chicken tacos, chicken wings, and more), and your first drink is on the KnotFriends crew. Bring ties to swap. Thursday, Aug. 9, 7 p.m. Waterfront Hotel, 1710 Thames St., Fells Point, Baltimore City, 21231. RSVP. FREE.
GBTC’s Groundwork Data Hack [RESCHEDULED]: Groundwork, originally scheduled for this Friday, is now being rescheduled. Check the GBTC website for the new date. TBD, 6 p.m. MLN Advertising, 1608 Bush St., Carroll-Camden Industrial Area, Baltimore City, 21230. RSVP. FREE.
