Republican governor candidate Tom Corbett stumps on tech at Bentley

The man who polls say would be Pennsylvania’s next governor if the election were held today spoke last week on the importance of high technology companies in creating high-paying jobs.
State Attorney General Tom Corbett, whose double-digit lead in the polls over Democratic gubernatorial challenger Dan Onoranto is slipping – though Corbett still enjoys a 10 point cushion – was out stumping at the Exton headquarters of infrastructure software giant Bentley Systems Wednesday.
Some in the region’s technology community may remember Corbett for his subpoenaing Twitter in May to unveil a series of anonymous users who were criticizing his candidacy.

Greater entrepreneurship is vital in growing and retaining talent and to growing the state economy, helping it become “a leader among states and a leader among nations,” Corbett said, according to a Bentley press release.
Corbett was given a tour of Bentley’s Exton digs, the headquarters of an operation with 3,000 employees in 45 countries with annual revenues in excess of $500 million and, since 1999, $1 billion in research, develop and acquisitions, according to the press release.
Corbett was showed the company’s 3D printing and software capabilities for architects, engineers and the like. As depicted above, Corbett also donned 3D glasses to view photorealistic renderings — using Bentley’s much self-trumpeted MicroStation application system — created with two separate renderings, one for each eye.
Finally, Corbett was shown a 42-inch multi-touch screen display of project designs using the company’s software. Finally Bentley representatives spoke, before Corbett gave his own stump speech on tech’s role in the country’s economic growth.
