Prayas Analytics, an analytics startup founded by recent Penn grads, is part of Y Combinator’s summer 2015 class.
The prestigious Bay Area accelerator usually invests $120,000 in exchange for 7 percent equity and has graduated startups like Reddit, Dropbox and Airbnb.
Prayas crunches data for brick-and-mortar stores. We profiled the Dorm Room Fund-backed company last summer. CEO and cofounder Yash Kothari told us YC is going great and he’s not sure if they’ll be returning to Philly. He says it’s unlikely.
The startup was also recently featured in VentureBeat.
There’s another Penn/Y Combinator link: former PennApps head and Dorm Room Fund member Pulak Mittal previously worked on special projects at Y Combinator with YC president Sam Altman. He’s since left to join an SF edtech startup called Clever.
