Plum Analytics, a startup that measures the impact of scholarly research, was acquired for an undisclosed amount by EBSCO Information Services, a Massachusetts-based company that offers resources for researchers, according to cofounder Andrea Michalek.
The company was founded in 2011 by Michalek, who worked at 90s-era Philly tech company Infonautics, and former Microsoft technical “evangelist” Mike Buschman. Plum Analytics will become a subsidiary of EBSCO, which has offices all over the globe, and Michalek and Buschman will continue to lead the company.
Its six other employees, distributed between Seattle and Philly, will not relocate, said Michalek, who lives in Fort Washington. The company plans to grow its staff in both cities, as well as open an office in the Philadelphia area, she said.
