Philadelphia is one of the 20 American cities that received the most patents in the last decade, according to Inc. Magazine.
The city received 22,481 patents from 2001 to 2011 and is a leader in the chemical patent field, Inc. reported. (It’s not clear if Inc. counted Philly’s surrounding counties in its analysis.) New York City was the East Coast leader, receiving 61,587 patents in the last decade.
