emocha Mobile Health is seeking a senior software engineer to lead development efforts, mentor engineers and make key decisions to solve technical problems.
The Johns Hopkins spinout develops video technology and other mobile tools to assist patients in following medication plans. This year, the company moved to new offices in Mt. Vernon amid growth.
“We are looking for a senior software engineer who is both a great fit for the team and has top-notch technical abilities,” said CEO Sebastian Seiguer. “At emocha, we’re solving one of the biggest — and most expensive — unaddressed challenges in healthcare: medication non-adherence. Therefore, the ideal candidate is someone who is excited to problem solve and enjoys working on a small team where they can see the direct impact of their work.”
According to emocha, the role will include implementing front-end user interfaces and connecting those interfaces to backend services, as well as developing API and database plans. (Read more about leveling up to become a senior developer.)
It’s one of a handful of roles emocha currently has open.

In the spring, Johns Hopkins’ Centers for Civic Impact became the umbrella group for work with cities to harness civic data that’s been ongoing at the university over the last four years. The announcement came with planned tech hiring, and one of those roles opened up this month.
A website designer will be working as a frontend web developer to improve UX/UI of digital materials offered by the Centers, as well as create a design language to be used across the organization focused on accessibility and appeal. Among the skills, the role points to experience with data visualization tools, statistical packages and GIS, as well as integrations, Python, SQL and graphic design software.

On the Technical.ly jobs board, we spotted a senior software engineer posting from RackTop Systems, a Fulton-based company combining cybersecurity and data storage that we covered earlier this year via a $15 million funding round. The role is primarily focused on creating APIs in the Go programming language. But prior experience in that specific language isn’t required, as the post points out that “We were all C#, Java, and C programmers long before we discovered the beauty and power of Go!”
