WHO’S GETTING FUNDED?
Langhorne incubator Novotorium invested an undisclosed amount in AboutOne, the Paoli-based family management platform. The startup has 14 employees and will stay in its Paoli office, said founder Joanne Lang.
First Round Capital participated in a $5.5 million round for FlightCar, a Silicon Valley-based peer-to-peer airport car rental startup.
First Round Capital’s Dorm Room Fund invested in Whamix, an interactive video creation platform cofounded by Ashish Parikh, a current Wharton MBA, PandoDaily reported. Whamix plans on moving to San Francisco when Parikh graduates.
WHO’S MAKING MOVES?
Monetate announced three major partners — all of which are data management companies — to its platform, ZDNet reported.
DreamIt Ventures Austin edtech startup FastFig is now in Philly and speaking to investors, Keystone Edge reported. FastFig was founded in Easton and recently graduated from the inaugural DreamIt Austin class.
Zokos, the startup that crowdfunds dinner parties, got a shout in the February issue of Wired (yep, we missed this one) in a feature about why Kickstarter shouldn’t dominate crowdfunding. Zokos cofounder Brad Baer works out of Rittenhouse Square coworking spot Benjamin’s Desk.
RightCare Solutions, a Fort Washington-based startup that aims to reduce hospital readmissions, has two big-name clients in Philly, according to the Inquirer: the University of Pennsylvania Health System and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Energy efficient homes are less likely to be foreclosed upon, Alphabuyer reported on its blog. Alphabuyer is based in Paoli and allows customers to group-buy electricity.
